Sam Chief-Ouh is a UK-based Ivorian musician known for his soulful, crusty voice and unique fusion of rock, pop, and Afrobeat. Born in 1965 in the Ivory Coast, Sam’s musical journey began in his childhood in the village of Konan Kokorekro, in the county of Toumodi, where he was raised by his uncle, the village chief. It was here that Sam was first exposed to the sounds of Baoulé singers, whose performances, often accompanied by three-string guitars, deeply influenced his own musical aspirations. As a young boy, Sam began crafting his own guitars from string and boxes, imitating the traditional Baoulé musicians who had left an indelible mark on him.
Sam's musical career officially began in 1988 when he started performing in cities across Côte d'Ivoire, including Yamoussoukro, Abidjan, Toumodi, Soubre, and Lakota. His distinctive voice and songwriting talents have earned him recognition as one of the finest Gospel artists in the French-speaking world. In addition to his vocal prowess, Sam is an accomplished guitarist, pianist, and producer, always seeking to learn and grow as an artist.
Over the years, Sam has composed hundreds of songs, with notable releases including Jesus le Tout Puissant, I Repent, Forever More, NNOTIE, and Possession du Territoire. Since moving to the UK in 2001, Sam continues to share his passion for music with a diverse audience. His dream is to perform at iconic venues like Brixton Academy, Wembley Arena, The O2 Greenwich, and Wembley Stadium. In the future, he hopes to collaborate with artists like Ed Sheeran and Tracy Chapman, whose music has inspired him deeply. Above all, Sam draws his strength and inspiration from his faith in God.
Sam’s music often reflects his deep personal beliefs and spiritual themes. He sings about God’s help, describing a divine hand that always assists those in danger. His work touches on the faith, suffering, and struggles of human beings, as well as social issues and life’s difficulties. A core theme in his music is the return of Jesus, which represents his conviction that God will one day return to Earth, bringing retribution and reward to the world. This theme is central to Sam's faith and remains one of the most important topics in his work.
Sam is a proud father of eight children and remains dedicated to creating music that touches hearts and reflects his deep spiritual beliefs.
